Post-Credits

Movie and TV talk for after the lights come up

About the blog

Stay for the credits

Post-credits scenes are for the people who stayed in their seats. This blog is for the conversation after that, on the way out, while you are still deciding what you thought.

Each post covers one movie, one episode of a show, or a short list built around an idea. New reviews go up on Saturdays.

Post-Credits is written by Tomoyoshi Takita at Syracuse University as a project for IST400. Some posts are first watches. Some are rewatches, timed for a sequel or a new season. The archive on the reviews page can be filtered by movies, shows, and lists.

How I rate

Ratings are out of five stars. A half star splits the difference between two rows. Lists are not rated, because each pick is already a recommendation.

★★★★★
All-timer. I will bring it up at parties.
★★★★
Great. Recommended without caveats.
★★★
Good. Worth it if the premise grabs you.
★★
Has moments. Wait for it to show up on a service you already pay for.
★
Skip it. I watched it so you do not have to.

The line at the top of each review

Screenplays open every scene with a slugline: inside or outside, the place, and the time of day. Each review here starts with one for where I watched it.

INT. LIVING ROOM - LIGHTS OFF, SUBTITLES ON - SATURDAY NIGHT

The same movie plays differently in an IMAX theater and on a laptop at 2 AM, so it seems fair to tell you which one I saw.
